Donald Manning Smith
Donald Manning Smith age 80, of Wexford died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy and loving father of Gwendolyn (Thomas) Johnson, Barbara (Daniel) Smith-Mandell, and Richard (Yu-Fen) Smith. Donald was born in Orange, NJ, the son of Florence T. Van Syckel and Cedric V. Smith. After graduating from Bucknell University in 1951 with a degree in English and economics, he served in the U.S. Army C.I.C. from 1951 to 1953. In 1952, he married Dorothy June Carringer. He worked in advertising and co-founded Tandem Incorporated in 1970, serving as vice president until 1994. He was owner of Northwind Communications from 1994 until 2005. He was a member of the Business Marketing Association, serving as chapter president and director, and was an active member of Ingomar United Methodist Church. Donald is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years and his three children, and by six grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson, Kimberly (Donald) Johnson Morefield, David and Joshua Mandell, and Leeanne and Kendall Smith; and by two great-grandchildren, Lacey and Donald Morefield. Funeral services at Ingomar United Methodist Church Friday at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ingomar United Methodist Church, 1501 W.
